Come out and celebrate National Trails Day at the RU EcoPreserve. Faculty director, Rick Lathrop, will lead a free hike on the Blue Trail along the Buell Brook Ravine. We’ll explore some of the natural and cultural history and do some trash pick-up on the way. Meet at 10 am at EcoPreserve parking Lot Road 3.  Bring water and insect repellant. Rutgers student, Liam Fleisher, initiated the installation of a bird feeder station near the Trailhead Kiosk adjacent to the Avenue E Roundabout.  Interested in sharing his love for birds, Liam investigated various wild bird feeding techniques and installed a variety of feeders and foods.  A host of different species of wild birds have been attracted. Mission CleanWater Race Series comes to EcoPreserve March 19

The Mission CleanWater Race Series is hosting a trail run in the EcoPreserve on Saturday March 19, 2022. A COVID FRIENDLY RACE SERIES FOCUSED AROUND COMMUNITY, ADVENTURE, AND FUN The race series brings a unique experience of racing styles. 100% of race proceeds go towards MCW’s clean water efforts. Joe Barbieri, a Rutgers BS Ecology, Evolution & Natural Resources graduate and EcoPreserve volunteer installed a Monarch butterfly waystation in the small meadow near the entrance to the EcoPreserve. The official certified waystation number is: 30734.  Joe is in the process of removing various invasive plants that are overshadowing the milkweed plants that Monarchs depend on.
